Abstract Expressionist
About Tarah Trueblood
Tarah Trueblood is an Ohio-based artist from the San Francisco Bay Area whose work explores the balance between harmony and dissonance through abstract and geometric forms. Working primarily in acrylic, her paintings are shaped by an intuitive, process-driven approach. Each brushstroke is part of a dynamic conversation—a back-and-forth between color, shape, and space—where new perspectives and possibilities emerge. Her compositions reflect a deep engagement with presence and perception, revealing a sense of order that mirrors her connection to the world’s aliveness and a broader, often spiritual, consciousness.
Tarah describes her work as conceptual and abstract, inspired by the philosophy that emotion and energy can continue to resonate with a viewer long after they walk away. She draws influence from artists like Mark Rothko, whose use of color and feeling pushed beyond the canvas.
Currently pursuing a post-baccalaureate fine arts degree with a concentration in painting and drawing at Miami University’s College of Creative Arts, Tarah has exhibited in juried shows throughout the Midwest, including at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts, Middletown Art Center, Richmond Art Museum, and Oxford Community Arts Center. She attended University of Louisville and holds degrees from the University of Kentucky College of Business, the University of Nebraska College of Law, and the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California where she obtained Master’s of Divinity and a Master’s of Art with a concentration in social justice and community art.
Tarah brings to her art not only a keen eye for abstract composition, but also a thoughtful exploration of the emotional and philosophical threads that connect us to each other and to the world around us.
