Why Buy Local Original Art?
When you choose local art, you’re not just decorating—you’re building relationships, investing in your community, and surrounding yourself with work that has a story and a human touch.
Buying original art from a local artist brings something real and personal into your space. Each piece is one of a kind, made by hand, and carries the artist’s time, care, and perspective. It’s a way to connect with creativity in your own community and to support the people who make it vibrant.
About Tarah Trueblood
Tarah Trueblood is an Ohio-based artist from the San Francisco Bay Area whose practice centers on the dynamic tension between harmony and dissonance, expressed through abstract and geometric forms. Working primarily in acrylic, she employs an intuitive, process-driven approach in which each mark responds to the last. Painting becomes a form of dialogue—an unfolding exchange between color, shape, and space—where structure and spontaneity coexist. Through this process, her compositions seek a sense of balance that reflects both lived experience and a deeper awareness of presence.
Her work is grounded in the belief that visual language can carry emotional and energetic resonance beyond the moment of viewing. Influenced by artists such as Mark Rothko, Trueblood explores how color and form can evoke states of reflection, inviting viewers into a sustained encounter that extends past the canvas. The resulting works are both contemplative and immersive, offering space for personal interpretation while suggesting an underlying order within complexity.
Drawing from a multidisciplinary academic background and an ongoing engagement with painting and drawing, Trueblood approaches her practice as both an aesthetic and philosophical inquiry. Her work reflects an interest in connection—between elements within a composition, between artwork and viewer, and between the individual and a broader, often ineffable, field of experience.
